Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth.
It’s hot in the summer and cold in the winter.
It’s round and wet and crowded.
At the outside, babies, you’ve got about a hundred years here.
There’s only one rule that I know of, babies —
God damn it, you’ve got to be kind.

Oh, you couldn’t have taken hold of my heart better with anything, I don’t think, than pairing that poignant image with those immortal words. Vonnegut never ceases to grab me.
Well done.

Thank you Ruby

So lovely . She tugs him close .
Was this prompted by the News LS ? This morning, BBC News was telling us that a little baby girl born today now has a life expectancy of 100yrs …. and boys are catching up [ish]
Lunch Sketch
January 25, 2013
No it wasn’t – and what do you mean by [ish]??
Prompted by thoughts related to the little kid inside all of us and the growing need for a little more kindness and consideration for others in this world … especially if we are now expected to be here longer!

Favorite Lunch Sketch ever! Glad to inspire. (oh, that’s such a weird thought for me…)
That quote gets me every time. It’s like Vonnegut channeled the Dalai Lama. Sort of. OK, maybe not.

January 25, 2013
Question. Do you have a reference for these or are they from the top of your head?
Lunch Sketch
January 25, 2013
Answer. When I can create these with no reference, I’ll quit my day job
Have a look at my conversation with iarxiv in the “Love (Part 2)” comments – it will answer your question more completely.

I love it when an artist shows himself. So many people talk about being an artist or about what they are going to do. But an artist goes out and during a lunch break, creates something beautiful with the tools available to all of us, all of the talkers. Very beautiful.

Stuck behind a desk managing people
They are mostly nice people, so not too bad.
It’s not impossible to change, but is harder as life, kids and responsibility grows.
So until I make it possible, I will make it happen in my lunch breaks and spare time.

I did have all of my 2012 posts published into A5 books for my Mother and Grandmother at Christmas time – made for nice gifts and kept one for myself.
The sketches are actually quite small (inside diaries) and sometimes the image I post is larger than the sketch. But maybe at some stage in future I will get some prints framed or put on canvas with Etsy. Right now though, I am happy just keeping things simple.
Very flattered by your question!

Well I certainly hope you do end up going that route! You could even sketch on a greeting card. Let me know when you decide to let some of that beautiful work go because I’d be proud to be your first customer!
